Ace of Hearts ("we", "us", "our") offers dog pack walks and 1:1 dog training in Palmerston North and the Manawatū, New Zealand. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through our website form, you give us:

• your name, email address, phone number and general location;
• the services you are interested in;
• details about your dog, such as breed, age, desexing status, vet clinic, allergies or medical conditions, training history, behaviour history (including any past incidents), commands they know and their exercise routine;
• your goals for training or walks;
• a photo of your dog, if you choose to upload one.

We also keep any emails, messages or other correspondence you send us. Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

• respond to your enquiry and arrange a meet and greet;
• assess whether our services suit your dog and keep your dog, other dogs and our team safe;
• provide pack walks and training, and communicate with you about them;
• keep records, and meet our legal and insurance obligations.

We will not use your information for marketing without your consent, and we do not sell your information.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where it is needed to run our business, and with people who are bound to look after it. This includes:

• Netlify, which hosts our website and receives the form submissions you send us (including any photo);
• Google, which provides our email (Gmail) and the fonts our website uses, so your device contacts Google's servers when a page loads;
• where the law requires or permits us to, for example to prevent a serious threat to someone's safety, or to a vet in an emergency involving your dog.

Storing information overseas

Some of our service providers, including Netlify and Google, store information on servers outside New Zealand, such as in the United States. By sending us an enquiry you understand your information may be held and processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to choose providers who protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including limiting who can see it and using providers that encrypt information in transit. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email us at aceofheartstraining@gmail.com. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can and within 20 working days. You can also ask us to delete your information and we will do so unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.

Children

Our website is for adults who own or look after dogs. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Links to other websites

Our website links to our Facebook, Instagram and Google profiles. These are run by other companies with their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Making a complaint

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
